About Nagzira wildlife sanctuary
Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled between Bhandara and Gondia districts in Maharashtra, a serene haven, offers fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and diverse trekking routes for a stress-free retreat. Once ruled by Gond kings, the park’s name is derived from a Nag temple and Mahadeo temple at its core. ‘Zira’ in Marathi, meaning a lasting water source, originates in Pongezara, Nagzira. Designated in 1970, it later joined a national park under the Tiger Project in 2012, creating a picturesque landscape in the Gaikhuri Hills of the southern Satpura range.
